How long can I keep frozen beef?
For best quality, keep frozen the vacuumed packed meat and consume within 9 to 12 months.
Will it fit in my freezer?
As a general rule of thumb you should plan for 35 lbs of meat per cubic foot of freezer space. A standard kitchen fridge/freezer combo is around 7 cubic feet meaning that if it were totally empty (Not likely) then you could fit 245 lbs. of beef in there (a half plus some). If you're like most people and don't have much space in the freezer, you may wish to invest in a deep freezer.
How do I get it?
For your convenience, we offer delivery. We Deliver monthly to the Houston and Dallas area for a delivery fee. If you don't want to use the delivery option, you can pick up at our ranch.
How much beef comes in a quarter, half, or whole?
There are specific weighing conventions used in the beef industry as standard.
1). Live Weight: is obvious, so that’s easy the averages weight per animal have been around 1000 pounds.
2 ). Hanging weight: is the weight reported by the slaughterhouse after killing, bleed-out, removing the skin and any unusable portions of the cow. Hanging weight averages 58-62% of the Live weight. Hanging weight is also the method used for our pricing.
3). Packaged weight: is how much actual product that you can put back into your freezer. Due to removal of unusable items (bones, grizzle, etc.) and shrinkage approximately 65% of the hanging weight will be your package weight.
How Are Your Meat Packaged for Delivery?
When you place an order with Farm to Freezer Meat Company, we do everything we can to ensure that your package arrives in excellent condition.
All of our meats are vacuum wrapped and flash frozen in their natural juices to lock in the flavor. The meats placed inside our reusable insulated cooler with enough ice to keep them cold until arrival.
How Long does your shipping Take?
You will be notified when package is shipped with a tracking number.
To ensure product stays fresh ALL shipping will arrive in 1-3 business days from the day we notify you with your tracking number.
